councillor James Lewis, Imam Qari Asim MBE, West Yorkshire\u2019s first Inclusivity Champion &#8211; Fatima Khan-Shah, Chief Officer at Safer Leeds &#8211; Paul Money, alongside senior civic figures, academics, community organisers and representatives, including Asian Express.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The launch of the <a href=\"https:\/\/heyzine.com\/flip-book\/0fd4cdac07.html\">\u2018Tackling &amp; Understanding Anti-Muslim Prejudice Toolkit\u2019 draws on extensive community engagement and evidence-based research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt outlines what prejudice looks like in daily life from verbal harassment and workplace discrimination to structural inequalities and harmful media narratives, and offers clear guidance &#8211; a framework on how organisations can identify, confront and prevent it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/hanif-malikIMG_4022_25-1024x768.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52999\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prominent figures from interfaith networks, youth organisations, equality groups and academic institutions attended the launch, each underscoring the need for action that goes beyond public statements of solidarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking at the launch, Andleeb Hanif, Editor, Asian Express said: \u201cLeeds has long prided itself on being a compassionate city, one that leads by example. Now is the moment to prove that compassion isn\u2019t just a value we speak of, but a standard we live by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt must be measured through action &#8211; by how we protect those who feel most vulnerable and ensure that every resident, of every faith and background, can walk, work, and worship without fear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-4fc3f8e1 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A blueprint for action across Leeds: The toolkit sets out recommendations in six key areas:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Education: embedding cultural literacy and anti-prejudice modules in schools;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workplace practice: improving employer training and creating faith-inclusive environments;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public policy: strengthening hate-crime reporting, accountability and data transparency;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Media culture: challenging inaccurate or inflammatory representation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community cohesion: fostering interfaith dialogue and shared public events;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring and evaluation: ensuring initiatives are measured, reviewed and sustained.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cA city that thrives when everyone feels safe\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leeds\u2019 status as one of the UK\u2019s fastest-growing and most diverse cities loomed large over the event. As the city prepares to celebrate 400 years since it first gained the right to self-govern, speakers stressed the urgent need for inclusive policy-making that reflects its changing population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many noted that the toolkit\u2019s strength lies in its practicality: it offers ready-to-use steps for schools, workplaces, charities and public bodies, rather than abstract recommendations. Its authors argue that meaningful change requires consistent, everyday interventions rather than reactive measures taken after incidents occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis can\u2019t stay on a shelf,\u201d said one youth representative. \u201cIt has to shape classrooms, boardrooms, community centres and council chambers.
