{"id":9050,"date":"2025-10-20T08:50:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T08:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp26.cmswebdeveloper.com\/asian-news\/fundraising-hero-honoured-with-fifth-national-award-for-outstanding-community-service\/"},"modified":"2026-10-05T13:12:28","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T13:12:28","slug":"fundraising-hero-honoured-with-fifth-national-award-for-outstanding-community-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp26.cmswebdeveloper.com\/asian-news\/fundraising-hero-honoured-with-fifth-national-award-for-outstanding-community-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Fundraising hero honoured with fifth national award for outstanding community service"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/nazim-ali-national-ethnicity-awards-2025_25-1024x732.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52642\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bradford\u2019s own Nazim Ali \u2013 widely recognised as one of the region\u2019s most dedicated community champions \u2013 has been honoured with his fifth national accolade at the National Ethnicity Awards 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Held at London\u2019s Marriott Grosvenor Square, Nazim received the \u2018Outstanding Contribution to Communities\u2019 award; a category that celebrates those who have gone above and beyond to uplift marginalised and diverse communities through grassroots action, advocacy and sustained impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more than 28 years, Nazim has been a tireless force for good across the UK and beyond, raising almost \u00a31.3 million for charity in the past 13 years alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Known affectionately as the \u201cRamadan Runner\u201d for completing annual 10K charity runs while fasting, he has raised \u00a3512,000 from 12 consecutive runs, supporting causes that span food poverty, housing, and international relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through his global aid work, Ali has helped build 347 homes in Malawi, Pakistan, Uganda, Afghanistan and Burundi, and taken part in 18 humanitarian trips, distributing vital supplies to some of the world\u2019s most deprived communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At home in Bradford, his Nazim Ali Foundation runs the Khidma Community Kitchen at the Millan Centre in Manningham, providing free two-course hot meals every Tuesday to those in need, regardless of faith or background. Since its launch in February 2024, the initiative has served nearly 14,000 meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another of his initiatives, \u2018Creating Smiles\u2019, brings comfort to children at Bradford Royal Infirmary and Airedale Hospital, delivering gifts during regular visits &#8211; 48 to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nazim\u2019s dedication has previously earned him the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the King\u2019s New Year Honours 2025and an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Bradford in 2023 for his \u201cselfless service to others.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking after receiving his award, Nazim said he was \u201cprofoundly humbled and elated,\u201d adding: \u201cThe last 14-months have been extremely difficult with my father\u2019s illness and passing, but I have remained totally committed to helping others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPeople are suffering in our midst, and we cannot stop God\u2019s work of helping the vulnerable. No award comes close to making a human heart happy &#8211; that\u2019s what truly matters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nazim also expressed gratitude to his sponsors and donors, for supporting his community projects, and thanked his friend Mohammed Azeem, a Covid-19 survivor, who accompanied him to the London ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Ethnicity Awards, now in their seventh year, celebrate individuals and organisations driving positive change in diversity, equality and inclusion across the UK. Among those in attendance were Olympic medallist Dr Fatima Whitbread and singer and broadcaster Myleene Klass.
