Due to the huge demand for tickets, two months before opening, the play has already been extended to 1 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u2018Everything thrown at me I should be able to handle.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the aftermath of the death of their matriarch, Joyce and her daughter Erica struggle with what to do next. She was the glue that held everything together, so what now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joyce thought she\u2019d set Erica up for a better life, given her everything she never had. But Erica wonders if, despite the therapy, the journalling, the recycling &#8211; maybe she is no different from her mum after all. Or her mum\u2019s mum.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe they didn\u2019t break the cycle. Maybe the cycle can never be broken.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Director&nbsp;<strong>Lynette Linton<\/strong>&nbsp;said, \u2018I\u2019m so thrilled that Golda and Letitia, two actresses I have long admired, have agreed to join me in my last season at the Bush.&nbsp; Both women recognise the importance of new writing and the development of creative talent that happens here. Without new practitioners being given opportunities to break through into the industry, there wouldn\u2019t be&nbsp;<em>Bridgerton<\/em>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<em>Black Panther<\/em>, or<em>&nbsp;Avengers<\/em>.&nbsp; Emma Dennis-Edwards\u2019 beautifully written play will be an incredible opportunity to see two women at the top of their game in a space as intimate as the Bush, and I can\u2019t wait for audiences to meet Emma\u2019s brilliant characters.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Emma Dennis-Edwards<\/strong>&nbsp;is a writer-performer of Jamaican and Trinidadian heritage. For TV, Emma\u2019s original single<em>Consent<\/em>&nbsp;aired on Channel 4 in February 2023, with the Evening Standard hailing it as a searing commentary that couldn\u2019t come at a more opportune moment.&nbsp;<em>Consent<\/em>&nbsp;was nominated for Broadcast and RTS Awards, with Emma being nominated for Best Writer for Drama at the latter. Emma\u2019s other TV credits include&nbsp;<em>Champion<\/em>&nbsp;(Candice Carty-Williams\u2019 show for BBC\/New Pictures) and Daniel Lawrence Taylor\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Boarders<\/em>&nbsp;for BBC. Alongside her episodic writing, Emma has original projects in development with The Forge, Studio Lambert, and Big Light. She was part of the BBC Writers Academy with John Yorke and wrote on several long-running dramas for the BBC as part of the scheme. For stage, Emma is currently under commission with Clean Break, Cardboard Citizens, and Pentabus. Her previous plays include&nbsp;<em>Funeral Flowers<\/em>, which was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2018 and won the Scotsman\u2019s Fringe First Award and the Filipa Bragan\u00e7a award for best female solo performance. It went on to tour venues across London. Her play&nbsp;<em>Bricks<\/em>&nbsp;was developed on the Old Vic 12 scheme and was shortlisted for the Alfred Fagan Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Director&nbsp;<strong>Lynette<\/strong><strong>\u202f<\/strong><strong>Linton<\/strong>&nbsp;is a writer and BAFTA-nominated director for theatre, TV, and film, and was Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre from 2019 until 2025.&nbsp; Her programming at the Bush centred on ground-breaking debuts from UK and Irish writers and saw four consecutive Olivier Award wins for Richard Gadd\u2019s\u202f<em>Baby Reindeer<\/em>, Igor Memic\u2019s\u202f<em>Old Bridge,<\/em>\u202fWaleed Akhtar\u2019s\u202f<em>The P Word\u202f<\/em>and\u202fMatilda\u202fFeyi\u1e63ay\u1ecd\u202fIbini\u2019s\u202f<em>Sleepova,<\/em>\u202fplus the West End transfers\u202fof\u202fboth\u202fTyrell Williams\u2019\u202f<em>Red Pitch\u202f<\/em><em>and Benedict Lombe<\/em><em>\u2019<\/em><em>s Shifters.<\/em>\u202fIn 2023, the Bush was named Theatre of the Year at The Stage Awards.&nbsp; Lynette\u2019s screen credits include:\u202f<em>My Name is Leon<\/em>\u202f(BBC2; BAFTA Nomination for Emerging Talent: Fiction). Created by Shonda Rhimes, it is one of the most successful shows Netflix has produced. The limited spin-off series&nbsp;<em>Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story<\/em>, chronicling the young queen, also launched to critical and commercial success in 2023. Previously, she starred in the hugely successful sci-fi epic&nbsp;<em>Dune<\/em>, directed by Denis Villeneuve. In 2018, she attained global recognition and critical acclaim for her portrayal of Princess Shuri in Marvel Studios\u2019&nbsp;<em>Black Panther<\/em>, assuming the titular role in the 2022 sequel&nbsp;<em>Black Panther: Wakanda Forever<\/em>&nbsp;&#8211; the highest grossing female-led superhero film in the history of the United States box office. Along with her company 3.16 Productions and roles in recent art-house projects; the critically acclaimed Ireland-set drama&nbsp;<em>Aisha<\/em>&nbsp;and her BIFA award-winning turn in&nbsp;<em>The Silent Twins<\/em>, Wright has cemented her position as one of the industry&#8217;s most captivating young artists both in front of and behind the camera. 2025 sees Letitia make her directorial debut with&nbsp;<em>Highway To The Moon<\/em>, a moving coming-of-age fantasy drama which follows the experiences of young black men whose lives have been abruptly snatched away, before her long-awaited return to the stage in&nbsp;<em>Not Your Superwoman<\/em>&nbsp;at Bush Theatre. Next year, Wright will make her National Theatre debut in&nbsp;<em>The Story<\/em>, before returning to the MCU to reprise her role as Black Panther in&nbsp;<em>Avengers: Doomsday<\/em>.
