{"id":8705,"date":"2024-12-23T16:25:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-23T16:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp26.cmswebdeveloper.com\/asian-news\/two-hospital-teams-shortlisted-for-awards-considered-the-oscars-in-healthcare-sector\/"},"modified":"2024-12-23T16:25:00","modified_gmt":"2024-12-23T16:25:00","slug":"two-hospital-teams-shortlisted-for-awards-considered-the-oscars-in-healthcare-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp26.cmswebdeveloper.com\/asian-news\/two-hospital-teams-shortlisted-for-awards-considered-the-oscars-in-healthcare-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"Two hospital teams shortlisted for awards considered the &#8216;Oscars&#8217; in healthcare sector"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/kavitha-nadessalingham_24-jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-51201\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Consultant Rheumatologist, Kavitha Nadesalingam, proud of what they have achieved<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two specialist hospital teams from Bradford who have been shortlisted for three national healthcare awards considered the \u2018Oscars\u2019 for the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The HSJ Partnership Awards celebrates health professionals where good practice and innovative programmes are celebrated among NHS staff and commercial colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which operates the Bradford Royal Infirmary, St Luke\u2019s Hospital and the district\u2019s community hospitals, has had two teams nominated after impressing the HSJ judges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rheumatology and Transformation team has been shortlisted in two categories for their revamped Rheumatology Nurse Advice Line which was implemented alongside IT partners, Dr Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team was shortlisted for the \u2018Best contribution to improving the efficiency of NHS services\u2019 award and \u2018Most effective contribution to improving care for those with long-term conditions\u2019 prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consultant Rheumatologist, Kavitha Nadesalingam, said: \u201cThis work which was led by Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Catherine Short and I, along with support from the trust\u2019s transformation team, has transformed our rheumatology advice line service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt has reduced waiting times by redirecting calls that would have otherwise come through to our CNS team to patient resources, thereby reducing our call back time and helping patients quicker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt has improved patient experience, safety and education and we are really proud of what we have achieved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Trust\u2019s Responsive Emergency Assessment and Community Team (REACT) service which provides an Acute Palliative Care Virtual Ward with daily Emergency Department in-reach has been shortlisted for the \u2018Best contribution to the improvement of urgent and emergency care\u2019 award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This work which sees the hospital team working alongside colleagues from Marie Curie Bradford, aims to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions in the last year of life and ensure patients are cared for in the community and in their own homes, which is where they tell the service they want to be treated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consultant in Palliative Medicine, Clare Rayment said \u2018I am delighted the collaboration between Marie Curie and Bradford Teaching Hospitals has been shortlisted for this national award as the best contribution to the improvement of urgent and emergency care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is a reflection of the dedication of the staff delivering REACT and those colleagues working in our Emergency Department.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rheumatology Nurse Advice Line has also attracted interest from other hospital trusts across England who are keen to adopt a similar, successful service for their patients, as it is replicable within other NHS departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The HSJ Partnership awards ceremony takes place on March 25, 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two specialist hospital teams from Bradford who have been shortlisted for three national healthcare awards considered the \u2018Oscars\u2019 for the sector.
