(Picture: Allan McKenzie\/SWpix.com)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A state-of-the-art \u00a31.5million, 10-bay all-weather cricket dome has been officially opened in Bradford Park Avenue, which has provided practice facilities to over 30 clubs located in its vicinity in recent years.<br>\u00a0<br>The facility \u2013 the first of its kind \u2013 is funded by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in partnership with City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, and is set to provide cricket sessions for 10,000 people from the local community each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/AM20542_23-jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48574\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bradford Park Avenue Cricket Club&#8217;s newly-opened state-of-the-art outdoor cricket dome facility in front of the Al-Jamia Suffa-Tul-Islam Grand Mosque. (Picture: Allan McKenzie\/SWpix.com)  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The building features two 40mx20m covered domes with a state-of-the-art lighting system, elite cricket surface and a retractable netting system enabling both training and matchplay, replicating the features of an elite indoor facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It will enable local cricketers to play all year round and in any weather.<br>\u00a0<br>Bradford Park Avenue has become a community hub in the area since the existing infrastructure was built in 2017, with Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC), Northern Diamonds, The Hundred\u2019s Northern Superchargers as well as recreational clubs from across the region all utilising the facility.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/bradford-park-avenue-ribbon-cutting-1_23-jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48583\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the launch of the new facility on Friday 20th October, non-executive Director for Yorkshire County Cricket Club, and Chair of Bradford Park Avenue, Yaseen Mohammed, said: \u201cThis is another exciting moment for both Park Avenue Bradford and our surrounding communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is a historic cricket ground, and where better to place the world-first all-weather cricket facility than in Bradford?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to have been chosen to lead the new Grounds Management Project and are looking forward to working with a large number of our local clubs to enhance what they are able to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are incredibly lucky in Bradford to be surrounded by a vast number of very well-run cricket clubs and this project should only help to improve standards across the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe popularity of the existing infrastructure has been through the roof, and with the ability to facilitate training in all-weathers and throughout the year, the new developments will make a huge impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/park_aveue_2_AM10382_23-jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48580\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bradford Park Avenue women&#8217;s players Chelsey Reed, Emily Easingwood, Halima Khan, Shivanie Patel, Nasreen Rafiq &amp; Tayaba Parveen in the newly-opened state-of-the-art outdoor cricket dome facility (Picture: Allan McKenzie\/SWpix.com) <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are another step closer to returning Park Avenue to its former glory, to be a real cricketing hub in the area and welcome in players and teams from junior cricket, all the way up to international cricketers.\u201d<br>&nbsp;<br>Chair of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Harry Chathli, said: \u201cWith the support of Bradford Council and the ECB, we have been able to double the capacity and can now offer approximately 10,000 cricketers use of the nets all year round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPark Avenue\u2019s ambitions have been to return the ground and facilities to its former glory so that recreational clubs, and our own YCCC teams can see this as a ground to be used in addition to the established outgrounds of Scarborough and York. We look forward to the local community use it to their benefit.\u201d<br>&nbsp;<br>YCCC has also aided the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation led Cric-Kit programme, with a recycling hub at the venue, as well as hosting Wicketz and Enjoy Cricket sessions for young people and supporting the Foundation and Yorkshire Cricket Board\u2019s diverse communities work including hosting The Hundred and Tapeball competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bradford Park Avenue has also become a centre for developing Women&#8217;s and Girls&#8217; cricket, with specific coach education and softball festival programmes supporting a new generation of female participants. The programme has led to the formation of a successful new Women&#8217;s and Girls\u2019 cricket club, Bradford Park Avenue Ladies CC.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the new facility, Bradford Park Avenue will become a grounds management training centre as part of a \u00a31m+ pitch improvement project, which will benefit 30 grounds within a 30-mile radius.
