{"id":8186,"date":"2023-06-08T10:54:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-08T10:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp26.cmswebdeveloper.com\/asian-news\/20000-reward-available-on-third-anniversary-of-alexander-kareems-murder\/"},"modified":"2023-06-08T10:54:00","modified_gmt":"2023-06-08T10:54:00","slug":"20000-reward-available-on-third-anniversary-of-alexander-kareems-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp26.cmswebdeveloper.com\/asian-news\/20000-reward-available-on-third-anniversary-of-alexander-kareems-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a320,000 reward available on third anniversary of Alexander Kareem&#8217;s murder"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Alexander-Kareem_23-794x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-47294\" width=\"397\" height=\"512\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The family of an aspiring computer scientist fatally shot in a suspected case of mistaken identity in Shepherds Bush have made an emotional plea for information on the third anniversary of his murder.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A \u00a320,000 Crimestoppers reward is available for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of Alexander Kareem\u2019s killers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was only 20 years old when he was gunned down on Askew Road in Shepherds Bush, in the early hours of Monday, 8 June 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>He\u2019d popped into an off-licence and was on his way to a friend\u2019s house on his e-scooter when he was shot and left for dead, in what police believe is likely to be a case of mistaken identity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alexander\u2019s sister, Khafi, and brother, Kabir, spoke at New Scotland Yard ahead of the anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Khafi said: \u201cPeople say \u2018this was three years ago\u2019 but for us this is every day; we are living with this every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI had three brothers, now I only have two. Sometimes I will see something in a shop and think \u2018that would look nice on Alexander\u2019, and then it hits me over again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHow can we live in a society where someone goes to the shop to buy sweets and their life is taken?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI would say to the people that did this, don\u2019t let something like this rest on your conscience. Come forward. Speak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou will not get away with this. We cannot rest. You will not get away with it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Urging people to come forward with information, Kabir said: \u201cIt\u2019s about protecting our people and our communities. Don\u2019t protect them [Alexander\u2019s killers].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police were called at around 00:40hrs to reports of man suffering gunshot injuries. Officers rushed to the scene, along with the London Ambulance Service and London\u2019s Air Ambulance, where they found Alexander with catastrophic injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene around 45 minutes later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the night of Alexander\u2019s murder, it is believed the assailants drove past him on Askew Road in a white Range Rover and shot him in a case of mistaken identity. The Range Rover was found burnt out just 25 minutes later three miles away on Ascott Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An investigation by the Met\u2019s Specialist Crime Command has seen more than 20 officers involved and hours of CCTV poured over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are still keen to hear from anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Detective Inspector Rebecca Woodsford, Specialist Crime, said: &#8220;Three years have now passed but our determination to achieve justice for Alexander and his family is undiminished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This \u00a320,000 reward from the independent charity Crimestoppers could go some way to help us achieve that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Over time people change and allegiances change. Those who know something that could help us may now feel like they want to talk to us, and my officers are ready to listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;If you\u2019re reading this and you know anything \u2013 anything at all \u2013 please come forward. It is not too late to do the right thing. You may think the information you hold is small or insignificant \u2013 tell us anyway. It could be the missing piece of a much bigger puzzle. Alexander did not deserve this and nor does his family.
