{"id":8141,"date":"2023-04-24T12:31:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-24T12:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp26.cmswebdeveloper.com\/asian-news\/charity-ball-raises-50000-to-support-poorly-children-and-families-at-leeds-childrens-hospital\/"},"modified":"2023-04-24T12:31:00","modified_gmt":"2023-04-24T12:31:00","slug":"charity-ball-raises-50000-to-support-poorly-children-and-families-at-leeds-childrens-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp26.cmswebdeveloper.com\/asian-news\/charity-ball-raises-50000-to-support-poorly-children-and-families-at-leeds-childrens-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"Charity ball raises \u00a350,000 to support poorly children and families at Leeds Children\u2019s Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Mark-Davies-Trustee-of-Leeds-Hospital-Charity-and-Director-at-Think-OTB-with-Dr-Amir-Khan-Sarah-Bloomfield-Sarah-Shuck-and-Jo-Waddington._23-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46951\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Mark Davies, Trustee of Leeds Hospital Charity and Director at Think OTB with Dr Amir Khan, Sarah Bloomfield, Sarah Shuck and Jo Waddington (Picture: Simon Lewis)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leeds Hospitals Charity hosted its first-ever Leeds Children\u2019s Charity Ball on 22nd April, raising \u00a350,000 to benefit young patients at Leeds Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A glittering evening complete with a champagne reception, live entertainment, silent auction and diamond necklace raffle took place at Pavilions of Harrogate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barbara Rider, Chair of the Ball Committee has supported Leeds Hospitals Charity for the past 15 years, raising over \u00a31m said: \u201cI have been fundraising for over a decade and I still get the same feeling of excitement to support Leeds Hospitals Charity and I am grateful to see the impact raising vital funds has on the young patients and their families within the Children\u2019s Hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Amir Khan, TV\u2019s favourite GP and patron of Leeds Hospitals Charity hosted the ball, after recently visiting Leeds Children\u2019s Hospital to meet staff, young patients and families, said: \u201cI was so impressed by the comprehensive services Leeds Children\u2019s Hospital provide, not just for sick children but for their families as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Dr-Amir-Khan_23-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46950\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Dr Amir Khan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It was wonderful to meet staff, young patients and families and hear about the fantastic care they\u2019ve received and how charitable donations have made a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guests heard from mum Natalia, whose twins Leo and Luca were born 11 weeks early after contracting TAPS (Twin Anemia Polycythemia Sequence) and had to fight through prematurity, infections, anemia and multiple surgeries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to the incredible care Luca and Leo received on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Leeds Children\u2019s Hospital, the boys, now 13 months old are thriving and living life a happy and healthy life at home with their family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Natalia said, \u201cWe were honoured to be invited to share Leo and Luca\u2019s story at the Leeds Children\u2019s Charity Ball. We\u2019ve seen first-hand the amazing difference donations make and wanted to give something back by fundraising and sharing our boy\u2019s story.
