{"id":7942,"date":"2022-10-04T14:09:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-04T14:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp26.cmswebdeveloper.com\/asian-news\/police-tackle-illegal-car-meets-at-euroway-bradford\/"},"modified":"2022-10-04T14:09:00","modified_gmt":"2022-10-04T14:09:00","slug":"police-tackle-illegal-car-meets-at-euroway-bradford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp26.cmswebdeveloper.com\/asian-news\/police-tackle-illegal-car-meets-at-euroway-bradford\/","title":{"rendered":"Police tackle illegal &#8216;car meets&#8217; at Euroway, Bradford"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Euroway\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/axj1_16WRMA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police in Bradford have been working to tackle dangerous and disruptive car cruising events on the Euroway Trading Estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team along with Safer Bradford and Highway Engineers from Bradford Council have been working on the operation for the last 15 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is after concerns were raised about dangerous driving in the area, excessive noise, damage to grass verges and fences and littering in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eight drivers have been convicted of driving offences with 5 vehicles being seized, 4 section 59 warnings and 3 Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) fixed penalty notices being handed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">34 penalty points were issued, and more than \u00a34200 worth of fines given out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three drivers were banned from driving, two of them for 6 months each, the third was given 18 months for racing on a public road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officers have released a video showing a driver crashing into a fence on Wharfdale Road on 22 January, after speeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 24 May 2022 a 25 year old man admitted to driving without due care at attention after crashing into a fence. The 25 year old from Cleckheaton caused thousands of pounds in damage. He was given 5 penalty points and order to pay \u00a3204 in fines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police Constable Joe Button of Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing team said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI hope this sends a clear message that police, and partners will take action against this type of behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCareless and dangerous driving not only puts the driver, but other road users and the local community at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe will not tolerate this sort of behaviour and we are working closely with Bradford Council to enforce the PSPO (Public Space Protection Order) which is in place and prohibits car meet events in Bradford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere is a minimum \u00a3100 fine for just turning up to the car meet under the PSPO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are also working closely with the community and I would urge anyone who witnesses anti-social driving or who information about any illegal car meet to please report it to us via the Report It options at www.westyorkshire.police.uk\/report-it \u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Councillor Abdul Jabar, Neighbourhoods and Community Safety Portfolio Holder, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIllegal car meets which often involve dangerous and antisocial driving are clearly unacceptable and the Council and our partners are doing everything we can to crack down on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese joint operations and successful prosecutions send a clear message to those who might be considering taking part and we will continue to take firm action against irresponsible drivers who disrupt and disturb local communities.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police in Bradford have been working to tackle dangerous and disruptive car cruising events on the Euroway Trading Estate.
