Calderdale restaurant \u2018Kiplings\u2019 named \u2018Best Indian\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/L-To-R-Mohammed-Rafiq-Azhar-Mahmood-and-Max-Rahman-from-Kiplings-Restaurant_22-874x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45252\"\/><figcaption>(l-r) Mohammed Rafiq, Azhar Mahmood and Max Rahman from Kiplings Restaurant<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Calderdale curry house is celebrating after scooping a prestigious national award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kiplings, Town Hall Street, Sowerby Bridge, has been named \u2018Best Indian Establishment\u2019 at the Food Awards England 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Owner Mohammed Rafiq and a team of his staff firstly found out they\u2019d won the \u2018Northern\u2019 region award when they attended the glittering awards ceremony at Manchester\u2019s Mercure Hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But at the end of the evening when judges considered all the regional winners, Kiplings came out on top as well to claim the prestigious prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rafiq explains: \u201cI couldn\u2019t believe it when they announced us as winners. It\u2019s such an honour and I\u2019m so immensely proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s proof of the amazing commitment and dedication of the staff and all the hard work everyone has put in since we opened the restaurant 12 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFrom front of house staff to chefs and delivery staff everyone has such a key role to play. We\u2019re one big family and I couldn\u2019t have done it without them. It really is such an amazing team effort.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The restaurant \u2013 which serves authentic Kashmiri as well as popular Pakistani and Indian dishes \u2013 fought off competition from around 100 establishments to win the prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asianexpress.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Kiplings-Exterior-edited_22-1024x649.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45258\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rafiq continues: \u201cAfter lockdown, it was the first competition that was available, so I thought for team morale why don\u2019t we enter it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was quite a lengthy process and judges came to visit us to get a flavour of the environment and witness the team working together at first hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt really is an amazing result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWith the cost of living, eating out is very much a special treat these days. Due to this, we want to create a fine dining experience, not just with the food but with the whole environment. Customers expect quality, and we pride ourselves on this \u2013 providing them with a wonderful experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The restaurant is well known for its links with the local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the years staff have helped raise much-needed funds for the local hospice. They also do a lot of work with local schools \u2013 inviting pupils in for \u2018experience days\u2019 where they get to see the whole food journey from sourcing the vegetable through to serving up the finished dish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As well as an honour for the staff at the restaurant, Rafiq is also proud to have put Calderdale on the map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He says: \u201cThe area around Sowerby Bridge has suffered very bad publicity in recent years due to the floods which have devastated the district. However, there are lots of positive things going on here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe street outside the restaurant is a major filming area for the popular TV series Happy Valley. We hope that the passion and dedication of all our team when it comes to customer service at the restaurant creates a unique sense of happiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMost of the awards from these kinds of events tend to go towards Bradford restaurants, so it makes a change to show that Calderdale is up there when it comes to dining out for fine Indian food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to have put the area on the map.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rafiq and his team\u2019s commitment to outstanding customer service are witnessed by the 5-star ratings the restaurant regularly receives. Comments include:<br>\u2022 \u201cLovely meal \u2013 ready when needed and friendly staff.\u201d<br>\u2022 \u201cGreat food. Delivered on time. Definitely 5 stars.\u201d<br>\u2022 \u201cThe best I\u2019ve had for a long time.
